No, not that kind of romance in the Secret Garden….the bird kind of romance. You see, I have always loved Dovecotes! Dovecote, you say? dove·cote ˈdəvˌkōt/ noun a shelter with nest holes for domesticated pigeons. Yep, those beautiful round nostalgic […]
I have always loved picnics! A warm, sunny Spring day or weekend is a perfect time for me to pack up a picnic basket and enjoy the wonderful sunshine or the cool evening breezes in the park or in your […]
I am Getting A Head Start on Cinco de Mayo, my dear readers! Perhaps it is because the Captain and I absolutely love Mexican food any day of the week … Or perhaps it is because of the years I […]
I thought I would share one last Easter Tablescape using my Flower Petal dishes., This Flower Petal dish tablescape was a last minute, impromptu affair with our friends.
Today is Easter Sunday….and what a beautiful day it is here in Florida! Happy Easter dear readers! May God bless you and show Himself to you today! “It is true! The Lord has risen indeed!” Luke 24:34 “He is not here: for […]
Do Ahead Potatoes, The Easy Mashed Potato Recipe!
Have you ever had a “go-to” recipe that is a never fail and always there for you kind of recipe?
Of course you have.
We all have a family favorite that has become like a signature dish in our recipe files.
In fact, many times we do not need the recipe to follow because we already know the ingredients and the order they fall in…
…..because we have made the recipe so many times.
This is such a recipe and it is a recipe that I treasure because of who gave it to me, and yes, there is a story to tell.
Setting An Easter Table is easy….and you really don’t need to go out and buy “stuff”. I keep baskets and little egg nests year after year.
And…..I love Peter Cotton Tail …hopping down the Bunny Trail.
There is something about little bunnies that steal my heart away.
April, Ahhhhh Miss April, Let Me Count The Ways!
I can’t help but think of the song April Showers whenever I think of the month of April.
Though April showers may come your way,
They bring the flowers that bloom in May.
So if it’s raining, have no regrets,
Because it isn’t raining rain, you know, (It’s raining violets,)
And where you see clouds upon the hills,
You soon will see crowds of daffodils,
So keep on looking for a blue bird, And list’ning for his song,
Whenever April showers come along.
This is the fourth in my series of the months of the year. If you missed them, the links are below.
Miss January here,
Miss February here
Mr. March here,
Opening Day, Hall of Fame, And A Master Bedroom Make-over!
Have you ever went to bed so excited about an upcoming event(s) that you couldn’t sleep?
I did that last night….and for sooo many reasons.
I feel like a little kid as I have waited in anticipation for April 3rd.
You see it is Baseball OPENING DAY!
April 1st….Yes, I have played pranks on my friends in the past….but it has been awhile so either I am losing my touch or I have grown up.
Well, maybe …maybe not.
But on this April Fool’s Day…I have been busy slapping paint on anything in my way in the Master Bedroom.
Depression Glass makes me happy!
No, not depressed as one would think from the title, but wildly happy!
Well, wildly may not be the term I am looking for. But I do love it.
Currently, I am working on a tablescape for Easter and using my green Depression glass which brings me to an explanation of these dishes.
Perhaps you have not heard of Depression Glass?
You may not know the term, but you most certainly have seen various pieces over the years.
Let me enlighten you…you know how I like to enlighten people….just ask the Captain! 🙂
Ok, if you have followed me for a while….you know that I am a Romantic.
A Hopeless Romantic.
I know…you are probably thinking I have been reading too many romantic novels or watched too many chick flicks and you would be right.
I can’t help it.
Under The Weather, But I’m Back!
Wow! I came down with a bug of some kind that layed me out flat on my back for a while.
It didn’t last long but I was miserable, so I did what I like to do when I am miserable….I stayed in bed.
And drank plenty of liquids.
And watched a lot of TV.
Mainly I watched a lot of the basketball games in the NCAA tournament, called March Madness!
You Know I Love Movies…..Need I Say More?
Well, there is more…I also love the Captain with his twinkling blue eyes!
So what has one to do with the other?
Let me explain.
I love Romance and Knights in Shining Armor and mysteries and I am a sucker for old Westerns, particularly John Wayne westerns.
I’m a Happily-Ever-After kind of gal!
Coastal Florida Seafood Boil And Tablescape!
Today is the first day of Spring and a time of the year full of rebirth and new growth. I have always loved Spring and living in SW Florida our coastal climate for me is like a delicious frosting on a perfectly made cake.
Living on the coast also means lots of fresh seafood, which has always been a favorite of mine….and it is the season of the stone crab which means fishermen are checking traps and bringing in all kinds of fresh seafood to our markets and restaurants.
